Hillsboro man arrested after running into a cornfield to escape police

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and Viroqua Police arrested a man on felony warrants after a brief foot chase Sunday afternoon.

Law enforcement tried to arrest Brandon Sebranek, 26, of rural Hillsboro around 2:18 p.m. when he ran away from officers on foot in the City of Viroqua and ran into a cornfield off of Cty. Rd NN, according to the sheriff’s office.

Officials found Sebranek around 3:20 and took him to the Vernon County Detention Center.

Additional charges will be sought by the Vernon County District Attorney’s Office.

The Viroqua Police Department, Westby Police Department, and the Department of Natural Resources helped at the scene.
