La Crosse and Trempealeau counties suffer COVID deaths
La Crosse and Trempealeau counties reported COVID-19 deaths Wednesday, while Minnesota tied its single-day high for deaths.
It’s the 11th death this month of a La Crosse resident, and 29th since Oct. 1 — all people aged 60 and over. For Trempealeau, it was the sixth death in 10 days and 10th death this month.
There was also one more county resident hospitalized in La Crosse — the 92nd this month. Case wise, La Crosse County added 151 Wednesday, according to the state.
The county is now averaging 115 cases a day. The positivity rate of those tested over that time is now 29.3%.
Here’s a look at case and hospitalization stats in surrounding counties:
TREMPEALEAU: 29 new cases (2,285 total – 658 active – 20 hospitalized)
VERNON: 16 new cases (1,045 total – 303 active – 20 hospitalized)
JACKSON: 43 new cases (1,647 total – 359 active – 10 hospitalized)
MONROE: 64 new cases (2,501 total – 432 active – 14 hospitalized)
WINONA: 63 new cases (2,581 total)
HOUSTON: 20 new cases (642 total)
Statewide, Wisconsin added 5,469 cases, another 248 hospitalizations and 63 deaths.
The state is averaging 5,372 cases, 194 hospitalizations and 55 deaths a day the past week.
In Minnesota, another 6,399 cases, 322 hospitalizations and 72 deaths. The state first had 72 deaths exactly seven days ago.
It is now averaging 52 deaths a day the past week, along with 6,740 cases and 268 hospitalizations.
Iowa added 4,506 cases, 193 hospitalizations and 41 deaths.
