Winona suffers 33rd COVID-19 death, La Crosse adds 36 cases
A 33rd COVID-19 death out of Winona County on Sunday.
The death was someone aged 80-84. It was Winona’s 11th death in the past 18 days.
The county also added 45 new cases Sunday and 46 on Saturday, while La Crosse County added 85 Saturday and 36 more Sunday. That 36 is the least amount of cases since there were 20 back on Sept. 26. The county did have 39 cases on Dec. 1.
It’s the second time in a week that Winona has had more cases in a day than La Crosse.
Winona is averaging 45 cases a day the past week, while La Crosse is at 101.
Houston County is averaging 23 cases a day the past week, after adding another 23 cases Sunday — and 21 Saturday.

Statewide, Wisconsin on Saturday added 4,831 cases, 183 hospitalizations and 77 deaths. Sunday, the state had 2,791 cases, 90 hospitalizations and 17 deaths.
In Minnesota on Saturday, the state had 6,337 cases, 231 hospitalizations and 75 deaths. Sunday, there were 5,588 cases, 174 hospitalizations and 64 deaths.
Iowa, Saturday, added 2,393 cases, 141 hospitalizations and 17 deaths.
