Committee hearing into “integrity” of elections unnecessary, shameful

Published

on

On the heels of the Wisconsin election, some lawmakers called for an investigation into the integrity of the election process.  Assembly Speaker Robin Vos immediately formed the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections, even before all the votes were counted. It seemed unnecessary then. Now it appears shameful. The first meeting of this new committee will be held this week with a public hearing. The chair of the committee says they have spent the past month reviewing thousands of complaints about the election, and that they must address the integrity of the election. Likely, they will drag out already debunked conspiracy theories to try to make people think our election outcome was somehow different. But let’s remember, the votes were counted, canvassed, recounted, and finally certified. We know who won. We know our election, despite the challenges of a pandemic, had integrity. The recount proved that.  The outcome of the election is not in question. To suggest that the election was rigged or stolen, even when proven otherwise, is the real threat to our democracy.

When the people begin to question our Democracy, they begin to question our Constitution and our bill of rights. The people then begin to look for solid leadership however to the rest of the world, we look weak thus vulnerable.

Your article at the end said it best. “The outcome of the election is not in question. To suggest that the election was rigged or stolen, even when proven otherwise, is the real threat to our democracy.”

The people in every state needs to wake up, stop being so codependent by electing dangerous people that are on the bad end of the Narcissistic spectrum. The people, including elected officials need to realize that you can’t always get what you want. Respect the Constitution, Respect Yourselves, Respect our Flag, and Respect The Country.

Hey Scott, Wisconsin voters need to request in writing an absentee ballot in order to receive an official ballot. This is did not happen and that is what is being perused by the Trump lawyers in court.

Why didn’t you mention that fact in your opinion piece?
    Have a nice day.
