La Crosse adds 53 cases, while Wisconsin surpasses 4,000 deaths
Another 53 cases Saturday of COVID-19 in La Crosse County, while the state of Wisconsin surpassed 4,000 deaths.
The past 1,000 deaths took 21 days. The 1,000 before that also took 21 days. To get from 1,000 to over 2,000 deaths, it took Wisconsin 61 days.
Saturday, Wisconsin added 4,059 cases, 142 hospitalizations and 50 deaths.
Wisconsin’s death count is the 23rd highest in the country overall and the 31st highest per capita at 73.4 deaths per 100,000 people, according to Johns Hopkins University.
As for La Crosse County, there are now 9,068 total cases, according to the state.
It’s the fourth consecutive day, and seventh of the past eight days under triple-digit cases. The last time there were that many cases under 100 was near the end of the October, which was almost all double-digit cases until the last few days.
La Crosse is averaging 61.0 cases per day the past week. A week ago, that average was 110.6. A month ago, that average was 140.0, which included two days with over 200 cases.
In Minnesota, another 4,447 cases, 177 hospitalizations and 67 deaths.
The state had endured three of the five highest death tolls (85, 89, 94 deaths) the past three days leading up to Sunday. The state also was under 200 hospitalizations in a day for the firs time since Monday.
Over the past week, Wisconsin is averaging 3,518.6 cases. Minnesota is at 4,320.9. The average hospitalizations in Wisconsin the past week is 148.0. Minnesota is 195.6. And the death toll the past week is 48.4 in Wisconsin, while Minnesota is at 63.1.
