7-time drunk driving suspect arrested in Monroe County

A pickup truck swerving between lanes late at night has led to a new drunk-driving arrest for a Sparta man. 

The state patrol says Michael Wittmershaus is facing his 7th charge of OWI. 

His most recent Wisconsin conviction for driving drunk dates back to 2008.

The 61-year-old Wittmershaus was stopped by the State Patrol on Saturday night, along Highway 27 near Leon, and was found to have open intoxicants in the truck. 

The trooper witnessed a pickup truck going into the wrong lane of the highway.
