La Crosse County COVID-19 Deaths

It’s the seventh death in 12 days of a county resident and 22nd since Nov. 1. Every death but one has been someone aged 60 or over (chart to right). The other death was a person in their 50s.

Another three residents were also hospitalized over the weekend, bringing that total to 292 — 44 this month.

The positivity rate for those tested in La Crosse over the past week is 25.2%.

In surrounding counties, Vernon suffered three deaths, while Monroe and Jackson reported one each from over the weekend. Winona also reported a death Sunday.

Total COVID-19 deaths in Vernon County is now 28 — nine in the past eight days and 16 in the past 18 days.

For Monroe, it’s the 23rd overall — the fifth in the past week and eighth this month.

For Jackson, it’s the ninth death — three of which have come in the past eight days.


Here’s a look at cases and how many are currently hospitalized in surrounding counties Saturday-Monday:
VERNON: 31 new cases (15.1 cases/day past week – 1,357 total – 166 active – 7 hospitalized)
TREMPEALEAU: 44 new cases (17.9 cases/day past week – 2,732 total – 411 active – 19 hospitalized)
MONROE: 50 new cases (25.4 cases/day past week – 3,107 total – 236 active – 8 hospitalized)
JACKSON: 28 new cases (15.1 cases/day past week – 2,078 total – 125 active – 11 hospitalized)
WINONA: 70 new cases (26.9 cases/day past week – 3,315 total)
HOUSTON: 46 new cases (16.6 cases/day past week – 996 total)

Statewide, Wisconsin added another 2,122 cases, 77 hospitalizations and 12 deaths. The state has had under 90 hospitalized in a day just four times since Nov. 1 — but twice in the past two days.

Minnesota added 3,026 cases, 102 hospitalizations and 18 deaths. Minnesota had hit four of its highest six death tolls in a day over the past week. The state has reported under 20 deaths in a day just seven times since Nov. 1 — and three of those were Nov. 1-3.

In Iowa, another 1,192 cases, 85 hospitalizations and 60 deaths. Iowa has had between one death in a day and 177 in the past eight days. The state has also fluctuated between 690 cases and 2,399 cases in the past four days.
