La Crosse area businesses have a new source of funding to help them through tough times, like the current pandemic.

Nine local companies in the building trades have joined with the La Crosse Chamber of Commerce to create the Building Community Grant Fund.

Businesses can apply for grants through the Chamber webpage, and Chamber CEO Neal Zygarlicke says the funding for an individual company could be generous, averaging around $7500.

The fund has $225,000 to begin with, and it may continue beyond the COVID-19 emergency.

The companies which worked together to propose the fund include Mathy Construction, Fowler and Hammer, Market and Johnson, and J.F. Brennan.

La Crosse County will accept applications for grants from now through January 15th.

Businesses applying for the grants must be in the La Crosse area, and have 50 full-time employees or less.
