Gas prices in Wisconsin lower than last Christmas

After a pandemic spring of really cheap gas when driving was discouraged, gas prices in Wisconsin have now returned to levels close to where they were last Christmas. 

The Gas Buddy website says the statewide average is $2.17, compared to 2.40 a gallon in December of 2019. 

Several La Crosse area stations have a low price of 2.09 per gallon.  

The average gas price in Wisconsin went as low as 1.21 during April, while the cheapest gas in the state this week is a dollar-61, near Milwaukee.       

The statewide price was back to 2 dollars by the 4th of July.
