As I See It

Wishing you a happy, and safe, holiday season

Happy holidays? This is typically the most joyous time of the year, but this is 2020. So we’re being told not to gather at Grandma’s house this year, to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. It is a tough call, given how much we missed our loved ones, only getting to see them on Zoom, perhaps for several months. But Covid has not gone away. We are seeing what seems like progress, with numbers of new cases on La Crosse County on the decline. That is evidence that the precautions we are taking are working. Some of the county’s metrics for gauging the virus are no longer in the red for the first time in weeks. But it important we stay safe, and that means virtual Christmas dinners this year. We don’t want to see a post-holiday spike, especially with La Crosse schools planning to reopen to in-person learning in less than a month. We have made too much progress to relapse now. Let’s continue to take precautions, for ourselves, our families, our health care workers, and our community. We wish it weren’t this way, but we can continue to make these small sacrifices, perhaps for not much longer. We wish all of you a happy, and safe, holiday season, even if things are a little different this Christmas.
