La Crosse adds 36 COVID-19 cases, while surrounding counties update after holiday break
La Crosse County added 36 cases of COVID-19 on Monday, while eight virus deaths were reported from surrounding counties over the holiday break.
La Crosse is averaging 41.6 cases per day the past week with a positivity rate of 24.0% over that time.
Just one county resident was hospitalized over the Christmas break, bringing that total to 306 — 58 of those in December.
Reporting out of other counties from Dec. 24-28, there were eight deaths — three out of Vernon, three in Jackson and one each in Monroe and Houston.
Vernon has now reported 34 total deaths — 16 in December. Jackson has had 16 county residents die from the virus — 11 this month. Monroe is up to 27 deaths — 12 in December. And Houston is at 12 total deaths — eight since Dec. 11.

VERNON: 25 new cases (7.7/day past week – 1,509 total – 155 active – 7 hospitalized)
TREMPEALEAU: 44 new cases (9.7/day past week – 2,919 total – 310 active – 7 hospitalized)
MONROE: 67 new cases (17.1/day past week – 3,402 total – 125 active – 2 hospitalized)
JACKSON: 40 new cases (14.6/day past week – 2,349 total – 128 active – 0 hospitalized)
WINONA: 56 new cases (11.3/day past week – 3,520 total)
HOUSTON: 38 new cases (11.1/day past week – 1,156 total)
FILLMORE: 48 new cases (9.9/day past week – 1,076 total)

Statewide, Wisconsin added 1,335 cases, 82 hospitalizations and 19 deaths. One of those deaths was someone under 20 years old — the second time someone in that age range has died in the state.
Wisconsin has reported between five and 120 deaths in a day the past week.
Minnesota added 1,087 cases, 105 hospitalizations and 13 deaths Monday. It’s the lowest number of deaths in a day since Nov. 16.
Iowa added 1,355 cases, 77 hospitalizations and no deaths. The state has had just one death in the past three days. Those daily numbers have fluctuated between 0 and 102 deaths in a day over the past 10 days.
