Five COVDI-19 deaths in Trempealeau; La Crosse adds 42 cases, 3 hospitalized

Five COVID-19 deaths reported Tuesday out of Trempealeau County, while La Crosse County added another 42 cases of the virus.

The death toll in Trempealeau from COVID is now 29. The county hadn’t reported a death since Dec. 11, when it had seven deaths up to that point in December.

As for La Crosse, there were three more county residents hospitalized, bringing that total to 309 — 111 of which have come this month.

The county is now averaging 43 cases per day the past week with a 25.9% positivity rate over that time.


Here’s a look at cases and current hospitalizations in surrounding counties:
VERNON: 5 new cases (5.6/day past week – 1,514 total – 120 active – 6 hospitalized)
TREMPEALEAU: 15 new cases (10.4/day past week – 3,530 total – 303 active – 5 hospitalized)
MONROE: 15 new cases (16.7/day past week – 3,417 total – 117 active – 2 hospitalized)
JACKSON: 13 new cases (8.3/day past week – 2,362 total – 134 active – 0 hospitalized)
WINONA: 7 new cases (10.6/day past week – 3,530 total)
HOUSTON: 8 new cases (10.7/day past week – 1,164 total)
FILLMORE: 5 new cases (8.9/day past week – 1,081)

Wisconsin: 47,4537 cases, 21,081 hospitalizations, 4,783 deaths
Minnesota: 411,110 cases, 21,605 hospitalizations, 5,196 deaths
Iowa: 278,310 cases, 3,812 deaths

Statewide, Wisconsin added 2,384 cases, 170 hospitalizations and 72 deaths. The state had reported 64 total deaths the past four days.

Minnesota added 988 cases, 185 hospitalizations and 36 deaths. It’s the first time under a thousand cases in the state since a three day run Oct. 5-7.

Iowa added 1,657 cases, 105 hospitalizations and 67 deaths. The state had reported just one death the past four days.
