Trial for mayor’s wife in pepper-spray incident set for July

A physical confrontation involving a van driver and the wife of La Crosse’s mayor has led to a trial being scheduled for July. 

Christy Kabat is accused of disorderly conduct for arguing with the driver and allegedly scratching him, causing him to pepper-spray Mrs. Kabat.  

Mayor Tim Kabat’s wife claims the van endangered people marching in a ‘Black Lives Matter’ demonstration last summer in downtown La Crosse. 

The misdemeanor trial, scheduled to start July 1st, could last two days, and a judge and special prosecutor are being brought in from other counties.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
