La Crosse County suffers 57th COVID-19 death, adds most cases since Dec. 8
For the second consecutive day, a La Crosse County resident is reported to have died of COVID-19.
That brings the total in the county to 57 — 19 in December, which is now the most deaths in a month in the county. There were 18 deaths in October and 15 in November.
La Crosse also added another 131 cases and eight more county residents were hospitalized from the virus, bringing that total to 319.
The 131 puts the county at 10,125 total cases. It’s the most cases in a day since Dec. 8 (127).
La Crosse is averaging 55.7 cases a day the past week with a 29.3% positivity rate over that time. A month ago, the seven-day average was 98.
Of the 319 county residents to be hospitalized from the virus, 71 have come in December.
Statewide, Wisconsin added 3,810 cases, 143 hospitalizations and 41 deaths.
