Facility plan in works for La Crosse schools
The La Crosse School District is ready for another study of buildings that could be improved or maybe eliminated.
At a meeting Monday, the district discussed developing a long-range facilities plan aimed at identifying the oldest and “least efficient” buildings.
An architectural firm is already conducting that study.
The goal is to put needed improvements to a vote through a district referendum in April of next year.
A public survey would be conducted later this year to find out whether taxpayers approve of proposed changes.
The school district has done occasional downsizing of property, such as in the 1980s when several schools were closed including Hogan, which became the district’s headquarters.
