La Crosse judge to run unopposed

Once again this spring, a La Crosse County judge is scheduled to run unopposed for a new term.

Judge Gloria Doyle was the only candidate to announce for the Branch 5 seat by Tuesday’s filing deadline.

Doyle was one of three candidates to vie for the newly-created court seat in 2015.

For a change, there is no state Supreme Court race in Wisconsin this April, but there will be one statewide contest, for superintendent of schools.

Incumbent Carolyn Stanford Taylor, who was appointed when Tony Evers became governor, is not seeking a full term.

Seven candidates have filed for the superintendent post, including former West Salem school superintendent Troy Gunderson.
