Rochester man identified as suspect in Bodega attack

The Bodega customer accused of beating a bartender who wanted him to wear a face mask is now facing charges in La Crosse. 

Police say a signature bond has been authorized for 65-year-old Joey Ray Burnham of Rochester.  No court appearance has been set. 

The Bodega Brew Pub released a security photo of Burnham and another man entering the bar the night after Christmas. 

The suspect is accused of hitting the bartender repeatedly when the employee wanted him to put on a face covering because of COVID-19.   

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
