The old year of 2020 ended just a week ago, and now another end is a week away in La Crosse.

January 15th is the deadline to get in on a local arts project aimed at interpreting events of 2020.

The city arts board is accepting proposals for the project called ‘The Moment’ through next Friday.

A $12,000 budget has been set aside for grants to produce two-dimensional works of art related to COVID-19, the elections, or other things which occurred in the past year.

As of Friday morning, seven artists have applied for those grants, and the arts board is leading a final publicity push before the deadline.

Drawings, paintings, or photos with a 2020 theme will be chosen for a special art display in the near future.
