Plea hearing under COVID rules likely, in downtown La Crosse murder of 19-year-old
A Minnesota man accused of killing a bar employee who had kicked him out of a La Crosse tavern may avoid a trial with a negotiated plea, but special arrangements may be needed to bring spectators to the hearings.
A La Crosse County judge is being asked to schedule a plea hearing in the next few weeks for Timothy Young, who’s charged with shooting Anthony Fimple last summer.
Young’s attorney says a plea agreement has been reached in the case.
The 19-year-old Fimple was shot in June while working at the former Twisted Moose bar on 3rd Street.
Young is accused of killing Fimple a short time after being told to leave the bar.
Relatives and friends on both sides have asked to attend both the plea and sentencing hearings, but most Wisconsin courtroom hearings have been strictly on-line for months because of COVID-19.
