Skating and fishing on park board agenda

If you like ice skating, but a rink is too confining for you, a new idea is being proposed for the La Crosse River marsh.

The Outdoor Recreation Alliance is offering plans for an ice-skating trail to the city park board, which meets Thursday night.

ORA says it has volunteers who would plow a skating path on the ice at Myrick Park.

The planners also would like to have the skating path lighted at night.

The park board also is being asked to support improvements for sport fishing at Copeland Park.

Board members could vote to accept a $28,000 grant from the Fish and Wildlife Service, to replace the existing fishing pier on the Black River at Copeland.
