Rescue crews called for someone stranded near Grandad Bluff
A person, essentially, lost or stranded near Grandad Bluff needed to be rescued Sunday.
The call came in around 4 p.m. to 2900 Ebner Coulee Rd. in La Crosse “to assist police in locating a person” on the bluff.
Police were able to find the person with the help of a bystander, before rescue crews arrived.
In a press release, the La Crosse Fire Department said, “crews performed a technical slope evacuation to bring the person to a safe location for transport to a local medical facility.”
The department said 14 firefighters responded to the call, which also included the La Crosse Police, La Crosse County Emergency Dispatch and Tri State Ambulance.
Shelby’s fire department was requested to standby for coverage of other possible emergency calls on La Crosse’s far south side during the incident.
