Traffic tie-ups expected this summer near La Crosse Center project

More traffic changes will be needed around the La Crosse Center in the next two years to help complete the $42 million expansion project.

Center director Art Fahey tells his board of directors that a stretch of 2nd Street between Main and Jay Streets will be affected by lane closures during the spring and summer, so the east side of the building can be completed.

Fahey says work on a Pearl Street walkway will take several weeks during the summer of 2022.

Construction on the La Crosse Center expansion has caused a disruption of traffic on the west side of the center for several months, but the work blocking Front Street is set to be completed soon.

Fahey says there’s talk of decorating the new west-side extension as part of Rotary Lights next Christmas.
