High cash bond set for Marshall in Cass St. drug bust

Bond is set at $150,000 cash for a La Crosse man arrested this week after a drug bust at his home. 

Aubrey Marshall is being charged with drug trafficking at a house in the 800 block of Cass Street, near downtown. 

Two other people who were at the house are still being sought by police. 

The DA’s office asked for a high cash bond, arguing that Marshall just recently arrived in La Crosse from Beloit, and could flee if he’s not held in jail. 

Marshall has served a 17-year prison sentence for dealing cocaine.  

Prosecutor Emily Ruud says Marshall also is wanted in the Rockford area for aggravated battery and strangulation, and hasn’t been in La Crosse very long.    

Marshall told Judge Ramona Gonzalez that he has lived in Beloit, and his only connection to Illinois is being charged with crimes there. 

Gonzalez says the high cash bond should keep Marshall in La Crosse before he’s sent to Illinois. 

A police informant claims to have bought drugs in La Crosse from Marshall at least 15 times. 

Monday’s drug bust turned up large amounts of cocaine and fentanyl, along with $14,000 in cash.
