Two COVID-19 deaths reported Saturday of La Crosse County residents.

It’s the 71st overall and 12th in January. December had the most deaths (21) and November the second most (15) in the county.

Wisconsin’s Department of Health (DHS) has 72 deaths listed for the county but La Crosse’s Health Department has said one of those deaths was someone from outside the county and it hasn’t been transferred out by the state yet.

In La Crosse County, 763 residents were vaccinated on Friday, bringing the total to 14,930, according to DHS. The most vaccinated in a day so far has been 1,186, which happened Thursday. Total vaccinations statewide is 521,762, including 98,754 who have completed the full two-dose series.

Case wise, after 144 on Friday, La Crosse added another 40 on Saturday. The county is now averaging 58.3 over the past week. One week ago, that average was 39. After going most of January with that average declining, La Crosse has seen an increase over the past four days.
