La Crosse County under 15 cases back-to-back days, as Wisconsin jumps to No. 1 in vaccine shots
Back-to-back days of COVID-19 cases under 15 in La Crosse County.
That hasn’t happened since a three-day stretch Sept. 6-8. La Crosse added 13 cases Monday. There were 12 on Sunday.
The daily average is now 23.6 over the past week. Last week it was 56, which did include a day with 144 cases. Without that day, the average was still 40.
Vaccinations of La Crosse County is at 21,012.
In surrounding counties, no deaths reported over the weekend. There hasn’t been a death reported in La Crosse or surrounding counties since there were two on Feb. 2 of Trempealeau residents. La Crosse’s last reported death was Jan. 28.
Also, every county is now under 10 cases a day over the past week.

Statewide, 753,800 people have been vaccinated, as Wisconsin has gone from near last for vaccinations to first.
The state is now leading the nation in the average number of COVID-19 vaccine shots given daily. The news comes as Gov. Tony Evers announced the state is expanding its rollout to a free vaccination clinic in southern Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is now 10th in administering a first dose to residents, and 16th in the total number of doses administered. The state was nearly last two weeks ago.
Wisconsin is now administering roughly 6,170 shots per million residents per day, over the past week. Hawaii is second, at 5,830 shots per million residents on average, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Case wise, Wisconsin reported under 1,000 cases for the third consecutive day. That hasn’t happened since a five-day stretch Sept. 5-9. Daily averages for cases, hospitalizations and death continue to drop but are leveling off, however, in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. Minnesota’s average hospitalizations was actually up one from a week ago.
