Some La Crosse County residents who have been waiting for COVID vaccine may get a call this week from the county health department.

Health director Jen Rombalski tells the health and human services board that a designated vaccine source has 100 doses available on short notice. She got a call from that provider late Tuesday afternoon.

Rombalski says people on the waiting list will be given a chance to get those 100 doses.  She admits she’d rather have a thousand doses, but says this vaccine could still save someone’s life.

The director says appointments will have to be made, because the shots must be administered by the vaccinator which received the doses.

As for vaccinations already given, Rombalski says 113 doses were distributed to La Crosse County health workers last week, during a county-sponsored clinic.
