A La Crosse man is charged with sexual assault and other crimes for having sex with a girl for several years, starting when she was 14.

David Singer’s charges also include physical abuse of a child, for allegedly choking the girl on a regular basis, and exposing her to harmful materials.

He’s charged with sexual assault of a child, sexual exploitation of a child, child abuse/intentionally causing bodily harm and exposing a child to harmful materials.

Investigators say the 40-year-old Singer met the girl six years ago when they both lived in Tennessee, and he followed her to La Crosse when her family moved here.

The victim says she and Singer had sex almost every day during a four-year period.  She told police that she was given pills, and Singer and her relatives suggested God approved of what was happening.

The victim, who’s now 20, went to La Crosse police last month, and Singer was arrested this week.

His bond is set at $10,000 cash.
