La Crosse under 20 COVID cases a day for 1st time since Aug.; 45% of 65+ population has gotten 1st vaccine shot

For the first time since the end of August, La Crosse County is averaging under 20 cases a day.

With another 12 cases Friday, the county’s average cases a day is now 19.9 over the past week.

That hasn’t happened since Aug. 25-31 when the average was 19.3 a day.

Cases are continue to drop. While La Crosse’s average over the past week is 19.9 cases a day, last week it was 35.

The county hasn’t reported a death since Jan. 28, either.

As far as vaccines, 15.4% of the county (18,226) have gotten the first vaccination shot, while 5.7% (6,700) have been fully vaccinated, according to new state data.

Of the 65-and-older population, 45.1% have received their first shot in the county.
