Arrive early at the La Crosse airport, please

Airline passengers flying through La Crosse are taking their time showing up at the airport to catch a flight, and it’s messing up people’s schedules.

Airport director Ian Turner is frustrated, telling the city aviation board that flights are being delayed and some passengers are missing their planes by not arriving at the terminal early enough to go through security checks.

Turner says it may seem strange to worry about late arrivals with passenger numbers down because of the pandemic.

However, he says people should arrive at LSE at least 60 minutes before a flight’s departure time…or longer, if they have a lot of bags to check.

Turner says the number of scheduled flights through La Crosse will increase soon. American Airlines will add 6 more flights a week to a total of 16 weekly, which would increase the number of available seats on their flights by 450 per week.

The new American schedule takes effect in early April.
