Parking to be restricted close to bluff trail entrance

Access to trails on Grandad Bluff may be made safer with some parking restrictions at the foot of the bluffs.

The La Crosse board of public works voted Monday morning to ban parking on the east side of the block of 29th Street where the access point is located.

The goal is to make it easier for trail users and drivers on that block to see each other.

Development of the access point had led to a dispute last year between the city and homeowners who live near the bluff trails.

The park department said the restriction will provide clearer views to both the people using the trails and drivers passing the access point.
