In possible final blow, Supreme Court dismisses another Trump lawsuit in Wisconsin

WASHINGTON – A lawsuit seeking to overturn the presidential election in Wisconsin, likely the last major lawsuit by Donald Trump, was turned away Monday by the US Supreme Court.

The High Court gave no comment on why it would not review what was a 4-3 decision against Trump by the Wisconsin Supreme Court — one of several it heard in December.

The US Supreme Court only agrees to hear about 1-2 percent of the cases brought to it a year. The court, with three Trump-appointed justices and a 6-3 conservative majority, has repeatedly brushed aside the efforts to overturn the election.

The ruling for this latest lawsuit found Trump’s challenge was without merit, while others in Wisconsin were brought too late to be considered by state justices.

The suit alleged officials failed to follow election rules set forth by the Legislature and “likely tainted more than 50,000 ballots.” It asked the courts to allow the Republican-controlled Legislature to come up with a solution, though what that would be was unclear.

The suit was filed by Trump in early December against the Wisconsin Elections Commission, multiple counties and municipal officials, the governor and the secretary of state, who doesn’t oversee elections.

More than 60 Trump lawsuits have now gone down in defeat, along with one narrow win for the former president.
