Fire trucks were called to the railroad swing bridge on Shore Acres Road in La Crescent on Monday.

Sources say a fence close to the bridge caught fire, at about the time a tugboat was going through the open bridge.

There was apparently little damage to the actual bridge.

Police for the Canadian Pacific railroad were also on hand to respond to the situation.
