Warrens driver gets 10 years in prison for fatal crash

A Monroe County man is sentenced to 10 years in prison for causing a fatal car crash in 2017, killing his passenger. 

Yancy Dieter of Warrens was sentenced Wednesday in Sparta for reckless homicide, drunk driving, and other criminal counts. 

A jury convicted the 48-year-old Dieter in February, finding him responsible for a rollover crash that killed 70-year-old Keith Nelson of Warrens. 

Police say Dieter had been going about 120 miles an hour before the accident. 

He’s also sentenced to 12 years on extended supervision after prison.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
