Saturday is the time to toss out the old medicine bottles

Do you have your Saturday morning errands all scheduled for the weekend?  Maybe your list should include throwing out those old orange pill bottles you aren’t using any more, along with any other unused medications.

But the drugs shouldn’t be poured down the drain or put in the toilet.  A twice-yearly drug Take Back Day happens around the U.S. on Saturday.

In La Crosse, the county health department will collect those unused or expired drugs between 9 a.m. and noon at the county building on 4th Street.

In October of last year, during the most recent Take Back Day, Wisconsin led all other states in the number of disposal sites and the volume of drugs collected.

On that day, 45-hundred disposal sites around the U.S. collected almost a million pounds of unused drugs.
