Brothers accused of dealing meth in north La Crosse

Two brothers in La Crosse County are suspected of dealing meth to a police informant. 

Gregory and Benjamin Balfany allegedly sold more than 40 grams of meth to the informant during a deal in late March on the north side of La Crosse. 

Fifty-one-year-old Gregory Balfany is being charged as a repeater, while the DA’s office is still preparing charges against 40-year-old Benjamin. 

Court records show Gregory with a list of convictions in several Wisconsin counties, dating back almost 30 years. He was convicted of possessing meth in Trempealeau County in 2019, for which he was placed on probation.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
