Aerial traffic enforcement Friday on I-90 in La Crosse County
Aerial traffic enforcement on Interstate 90 today in La Crosse County from the Wisconsin State Patrol.
You won’t get a ticket in the mail if a plane, for instance, catches you speeding, though. What happens is the aerial crew that detects a violation tells a ground unit to do the traffic stop.
The state patrol said excessive speed last year contributed to a lot of fatal crashes and, therefore, aerial enforcement is needed.
“We choose to announce enforcement efforts like this to remind the public of the need to observe speed limits,” State Patrol superintendent Anthony Burrell said. “The goal is public safety through voluntary compliance with traffic laws – not to stop or cite motorists.”
