Standoff near Caledonia leads to arrest of armed man

A 36-year-old man is jailed in Houston County after allegedly threatening a woman with a firearm. 

James Forrester was arrested on assault charges after a police standoff in rural Caledonia, lasting about five hours on Thursday. 

Police received a 9-1-1 call from the woman who got the threat.  She was able to get away from the scene unhurt. 

An emergency response vehicle from Winona County was used to get onto the property, so Forrester could be taken into custody.  A second man was arrested for allegedly interfering with police at the scene.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
