Logan High’s Rotary Interact Club holding shoe drive
Logan High School students are asking their community to donate shoes to people in need.
Students from Logan High School’s Interact Club are partnering with nonprofit Soles4Souls
to hold a mass shoe drive all week.
The drive runs now through May 9. The hope is that more than 1,000 pairs of new or gently used shoes are donated.
LOGAN INTERACT CLUB SHOE DRIVE
What: Any type of new or gently used shoe
When: Drop off between 3:30-6 p.m. through May 9
Where: Main entrance at Logan High School (map)
For those looking to donate, drop them off between 3:30-6 p.m. at the main entrance of Logan High School (map). Every type of shoe will be accepted.
Will Coffey, a junior at Logan, said, as a club, they were all looking for projects to do and he suggested a shoe drive.
“I like to run,” Coffey said Monday on WIZM’s La Crosse Talk. “I have a lot of shoes that I can donate to other people that need shoes. I threw the idea out there. Everyone went with it, and now we’re doing a shoe drive.”
All donated shoes will be gifted to Soles4Souls, a nonprofit recognized as a four-star charity by
Charity Navigator.
Soles4Souls looks to turn unwanted shoes and clothing “into opportunity, by keeping
them from going to waste and putting them to good use.”
More about Interact:
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 14-18. Interact clubs are
sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance. Interact has a
mission of bringing together young people to develop leadership skills while discovering the
power of Service Above Self. Interact clubs organize two projects every year, one that helps their
school or community and one that promotes international understanding. In the La Crosse area,
there are separate Interact service clubs at each high school.
