A northeast Iowa jury has convicted a 52-year-old woman of killing her husband at their Delaware County home 10 years ago.

The jury in Clayton County took three hours on Friday to find Revette Sauser guilty of first-degree murder in the 2011 shooting death of Terry Sauser.

Mrs. Sauser had already served nine years of a 40-year prison term after reaching a plea of manslaughter, when the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that the case should be reopened because of a lack of evidence on a kidnapping charge.

Prosecutors said Revette Sauser thought her husband was cheating on her, and shot Terry during a fight.

The defense claimed Mrs. Sauser had a gun in self-defense, and shot her husband by accident.

She will be resentenced in a few weeks.
