Area Capitol protester having court hearings in DC
A judge in Washington is reviewing charges this week against a La Crosse County man in connection with the U.S. Capitol riot back in January.
Abram Markofski and a Dane County man were brought to federal court last week, after investigators traced cellphones to determine that the two were inside the Capitol at the time of the January 6th protests.
Markofski and Brandon Nelson have admitted to entering the Capitol building. They’re charged in federal court with disorderly conduct, demonstrating in the capitol, and entering a restricted building.
The two are among dozens of people accused of federal crimes resulting from the Capitol breach.
Markofski is a Viterbo student and a Wisconsin National Guard member who went to the Capitol on the day protesters stormed the building.
