Barnes in La Crosse to promote water quality programs
Wisconsin’s lieutenant governor comes to Myrick Park in La Crosse, to promote the state’s efforts to maintain clean water.
Mandela Barnes met with students and officials of UW-L on Friday, along with area lawmakers, to find out about local programs that are tied to the Freshwater Collaborative.
Barnes and legislators Jill Billings and Brad Pfaff say that the Badger Bounceback programs will help control pollution being found in the state, such as PFAS chemicals, or lead in the La Crosse River marsh.
Joining Barnes and the state officials were UW-L Chancellor Joe Gow and Professor Roger Haro of the river studies program.
