Mayo will add new MRI scanners at Onalaska clinic
The Mayo Clinic in Onalaska has broken ground for an expansion of its radiology department. A new MRI scanner and a tesla scanner will be part of the $8 million addition to the clinic on Theater Road, to be completed early next year.
The equipment is designed to be used to produce clear images of the brain, bones, muscles, and prostate.
Mayo doctors plan to use the new scanners for specialties including cancer, orthopedics, and sports medicine. The clinic says the new equipment will allow the clinic to shorten the length of time that patients have to be in an MRI scanner.
Mayo Health has appointed a new president for its hospitals and clinics in the Tri-State area.
Dr. Prathibha Varkey practiced medicine at Mayo in Rochester for 11 years, and most recently was the president of a medical group associated with Yale University in Connecticut.
Varkey will oversee the operations of Mayo facilities in La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen, Caledonia, and other communities in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa.
