Missing child found quickly in Vernon County

An 8-year-old child with special needs was reported missing in Vernon County on Saturday morning, but law officers found the child safe in a vehicle within an hour of the call.

The child reportedly had wandered away from a house on Church Street in the village of Ontario, around 8 a.m.

Law enforcement carried out a search with the Ontario Fire Department and community volunteers and discovered the child in the vehicle.

Vernon County is still investigating the incident.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
