WINONA, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say a Winona man was arrested Sunday morning after an alleged domestic assault and overnight standoff with police.
Police said 41-year-old Robert Cerney barricaded himself inside a Winona residence Saturday night on the 650 block of East Seventh Street, as police attempted to make contact.
After police retreated to wait for backup, he began setting parts of the home on fire and threatened officers, according to the report.
He was arrested about 8:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.
The Winona Fire Department had to put out several fires.
The suspect is facing charges of false imprisonment, making terroristic threats, domestic assault by strangulation and violating a domestic abuse no contact order.
