La Crosse pools to open for summer, with restrictions

La Crosse is definitely supposed to have beach and pool weather through the weekend.  Predicted highs in the 90’s come just as the city swimming sites are ready to open for summer on Saturday.

From the city park and rec department, Kerry Gloede says the pools will be open at half-capacity because of COVID concerns, and a midday cleaning routine is scheduled each day between two open swim sessions.

The pandemic kept La Crosse’s pools and beaches closed for all of last summer.

And it’s expected that the newly rebuilt Memorial Pool will be open for a full season for the first time since 2015. Memorial reopened during the closing weeks of the 2019 swim season.

“Especially since it’s been warm the last day or two, I think it’s supposed to be warm through the weekend, I think everybody will be really excited to have the pools open again,” Gloede said.

The season lasts until August 15th.
