Fire at brewery building may not have set off alarm

It might have been a false alarm which brought La Crosse firefighters to the scene of a real fire Wednesday morning.

Power went out briefly in the area of 3rd Street and South Avenue around a quarter to 5.

The fire department says that outage may have set off an alarm at City Brewery.

The first crews on the scene didn’t find a problem, but soon they saw flames on top of the brewery’s waste water plant.  The fire was extinguished quickly, and no one was injured.

Flammable gases from the treatment plant may have caught fire.
