As I See It

Wisconsin should not follow Arizona’s lead

It was, at the very least, a waste of time. At least it didn’t happen on the taxpayer’s dime. Five Wisconsin state lawmakers recently returned from a junket to  Arizona, where they were watching yet another recount of the ballots in the recent presidential election. This controversial audit of the Arizona election returns is being conducted by a private group called Cyber Ninjas with no experience auditing election returns. In what sounds like a scene from a bad movie, auditors are checking to see whether ballots contain bamboo fibers to support the unfounded theory that ballots were smuggled from Asia to Arizona. Why would five Wisconsin state legislators, including the chair of the Wisconsin Election Commission, make that trip to Arizona? Some fear they want to try a similar stunt in Wisconsin. Already, Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has hired three former police officers to review Wisconsin’s election results. That is despite the fact that recounts and seven court rulings upheld Joe Biden’s win in Wisconsin. We know who won. To continue to question that is dangerous for our democracy, and a complete waste of time.
