Mayo vaccine clinic in La Crosse closing next week

A COVID-19 testing and vaccination clinic in La Crosse is about to be closed.

The last day the Mayo Clinic Health System site on 10th Street will be open is July 6.

On July 7, COVID-19 testing (symptomatic, travel and pre-procedural) and vaccinations will become part of normal clinical operations at all Mayo locations in Southwest Wisconsin.

Here are some other notes from Mayo on COVID-19 testing, vaccinations:

• The last day for drive-up COVID-19 testing in Sparta was June 30.
• Symptomatic and travel testing as well as vaccination will be provided in all primary care departments.
• Pre-procedural testing will be completed in the procedural departments.
• Appointments will be required.

Mayo also stated that the need to have a facility dedicated solely to COVID-19 vaccinations is no longer necessary because the volume at the site has steadily declined.

La Crosse County is at 53.5% fully vaccinated with 63% of people over 18 inoculated.

“We would like to say thank you to our community for everyone’s efforts to help manage this pandemic,” Mayo’s Kevin Fitzgerald, M.D., family physician said in the statement. “Without their diligence in masking and social distancing, testing and getting the vaccine, we wouldn’t be at this point,”

People can, of course, still get vaccinated.

Mayo is encouraging patients to use its Patient Online Services online or via the mobile app to schedule their vaccine appointment.
