“No Thanks to Ron” RV criticizing Sen. Johnson makes stop at Riverfest
The next election in Wisconsin for U.S. Senate is still more than a year away, but one politically active group in the state is taking a message about Senator Ron Johnson on the road.
Opportunity Wisconsin brought its “Summer Is On, No Thanks to Ron” RV to La Crosse’s Riverfest on Friday, parking it along State Street near the entrance to Riverside Park.
The group says COVID vaccine and relief money to businesses and individuals under the American Rescue Plan have helped Wisconsin residents get back to a normal summer. And Opportunity Wisconsin points out that Republican Johnson opposed the bill.
“Last year, the pandemic put a stop to so many of our quintessential Wisconsin summertime traditions, including Riverfest,” Meghan Roh, the program director for Opportunity Wisconsin, said. “This year, Opportunity Wisconsin will be traveling the state celebrating all there is to love about summer in Wisconsin and making sure folks know who fought for us and who failed us.”
The RV features photos of Sen. Johnson, and a phone number for his Washington office. The vehicle is scheduled to make appearances this summer at Ashley for the Arts in Arcadia, Summerfest in Milwaukee, and the Taste of Madison.
