The La Crosse County Board could take a stand Thursday night on the idea of civilians watching police activity in the region.

The board is scheduled to vote on a plan to form a committee to study the need for a police oversight panel.  The county’s executive committee endorsed the study proposal last week.

There have been calls for oversight groups in several cities, following the death of George Floyd and demonstrations around the country.

One interest group, the La Crosse chapter of Our Wisconsin Revolution, is urging county residents to e-mail their county supervisors with opinions on the study plan before the meeting.
